Columbia College Chicago
September 2024 - May 2025For the third year of my degree, I opted to spend it abroad in the United States, at Columbia College Chicago.
This was one of the most remarkable experiences of my life, working under industry leaders and collaborating with local devs. CCC offered me several interesting games courses.
At CCC, I picked up topology and Maya skills from the college's games art and animation faculty, worked on level design (where I learned to apply those lessons in two Quake levels, spAtlasPrison and dmPrisonBreak) and learned a lot about Agile production principles. Other classes I picked up went over virtual immersive environments and games culture, broadening my horizons on theoretical concepts.
I also got involved with some local institutions, coming to some of Night City's events and learning more about developer collaboration, as well as making connections with my lecturers and fellow students.
All in all, it was a very formative experience that helped align me more towards the kind of work I would like to work on in the industy after finishing my degree.
